GBP has received recognition from the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association (JEMA) for engineering work addressing practical cabling challenges at solar power plants in Japan.

GBP engineers Shiwei Zhang and Jianwei Lu received a technical achievement award in the Power Division of JEMA's 2026 awards for developing an integrated aluminum cabling solution. The association's awards recognize engineers whose contributions support the technological advancement of Japan's electrical industry.

The recognition highlights the engineering expertise behind GBP's aluminum cabling products and the company's ability to develop solutions around actual project requirements.

Developed in response to copper cable costs and theft concerns in Japan, the solution addresses the connection and installation challenges involved in switching from copper to aluminum. It combines aluminum cables, hybrid terminals for copper-to-aluminum connections, and mechanical connectors that use bolt-fastened connections without dedicated crimping or compression tools.

The development considers the cable, its connections and installation methods together. This approach reflects GBP's focus on translating requirements encountered in the field into coordinated product development.

The award provides industry recognition of this engineering work, adding to GBP's experience in developing aluminum cabling solutions for solar infrastructure. GBP will continue drawing on customer feedback and field experience to develop solutions that support the long-term operation of renewable energy infrastructure.

Based in Japan, GBP K.K. offers end-to-end renewable energy solutions - from solar component manufacturing and system design to construction and O&M. Feel free to reach out to us for anything renewable energy related!
