In mid-June, a vessel carrying 1,200 kilometres of JKLYJ-series aerial insulated conductors docked at the Port of Abidjan — the first delivery of SHINE Cable's largest rural electrification order in West Africa this year.

The project

Led by the national utility, the programme will connect 240 villages to the national grid within 18 months. It uses a two-tier scheme of 1 kV and 10 kV aerial insulated conductors, dramatically reducing tree-contact discharge and public safety risks compared with bare conductors.

Engineered for the tropics

This batch strengthens UV and damp-heat resistance beyond our standard recipe:

  • Weather-resistant XLPE insulation, validated by 2,000-hour xenon-arc ageing tests
  • Conductor compaction factor raised to 0.92 to cut line losses
  • French-language installation guides packed with every drum

Subsequent batches ship through Q3, with our regional engineers providing on-site stringing support.
